We had the opportunity to talk with Martin Horak, President of Grunt to ask him some questions about his business. Here is what we learned.
How long has Grunt been in business?
Grunt has been in business for two years.
What kind of services do you provide?
Grunt provides material and supply pickup, and delivery services tailored to local businesses, contractors, tradesmen, and anyone with task in hand. Grunt specializes in helping working-class professionals save time by running errands, providing reliable, on-demand or scheduled delivery for essential supplies. Our service is particularly useful for those in the trades who need efficient transport of last-minute materials, enabling them to focus on their work while Grunt takes care of the logistics.
How has your business grown and changed over the years?
Our business journey has been remarkable, evolving from a napkin idea to a fully operational platform in just three years. It began with a vision post Hurricane Michael to streamline material and supply deliveries for local businesses and tradesmen. Early on, we focused on building key partnerships with local stakeholders, validating our concept to meet the needs of contractors and suppliers. As momentum grew, we launched strategic fundraising efforts, securing investors who believed in our mission to support local businesses and create jobs for gig drivers. With their backing, we built a talented team and refined our platform. After years of hard work, we launched and officially entered our local market. This milestone allowed us to test services, gather feedback, and make improvements. Today, Grunt continues to grow, solving real-world problems for our locals with task in hand, provides source of income for locals while staying true to our founding values - making promises and delivering on them, just like the good old days.
What are some notable projects your business has been a part of?
In 2022 our project was handpicked from ten thousand applications, where less than 2% of the ideas are selected, allowing us to partner with Frederick Cary, a world-renowned executive who helps entrepreneurs maximize their success by using a proven set of processes developed over decades of company building. In 2022, we have also partnered with Malibu Open to support the logistics of the event, which contributed to the breaking of the world record in slalom by our local waterski champion and the owner of Emerald Coast Compounding Pharmacy, Regina Jaquess. It was a truly remarkable event. Regina is the current Guinness World Record holder in women’s water-ski slalom.
Are there any charity projects your company is involved in?
While we are an early-stage startup with limited resources for local charity, we have volunteered to help at the Bloody Mary Festival in recent years, where proceeds from the event go to Habitat for Humanity. We also make financial contributions to Toys for Tots each year. As we grow, we intend to become more involved in disaster recovery efforts and actively participate in local events that benefit charities.
