We had the opportunity to talk with Martin Horak, President of Grunt to ask him some questions about his business. Here is what we learned.
How long has Grunt been in business?

Grunt has been in business for two years.
What Kind of Service you Provide?
Grunt is a local delivery app built for suppliers, working-class professionals, contractors, and businesses that need fast, reliable help picking up and delivering materials, tools, or supplies. Whether it’s a last-minute run or a scheduled delivery, Grunt complements suppliers’ in-house delivery and connects businesses with nearby drivers—people with cars or pickup trucks—who can get what you need within hours. No national chains, no markups, no payroll costs, no hidden fees. Just local people helping local people, so you can stay focused on the job while Grunt handles the logistics.
How has your business grown over the years?
Our business journey has been remarkable, evolving from a napkin idea to a fully operational platform in just three years. It began with a vision after Hurricane Michael to streamline material and supply deliveries for local suppliers, contractors, tradesmen, and any local business looking to offer on-demand delivery to their customers. Early on, we focused on building key partnerships with local stakeholders, validating our concept to meet the needs of suppliers, contractors, and small businesses. As momentum grew, we entered a strategic partnership with a local software developer and launched targeted fundraising efforts, securing investors who believed in our mission to support local businesses and create jobs for gig drivers. With their backing, we built a talented team and refined our platform. After years of hard work, we officially launched and entered our local market. This milestone allowed us to test services, gather feedback, and make continuous improvements. Today, Grunt continues to grow—solving real-world problems for locals with tasks in hand, providing a source of income for the community, and staying true to our founding values: making promises and delivering on them, just like the good old days.
What are some notable projects your business has been a part of?
In 2022 our project was handpicked from ten thousand applications, where less than 2% of the ideas are selected, allowing us to partner with Frederick Cary, a world-renowned executive who helps entrepreneurs maximize their success by using a proven set of processes developed over decades of company building. In 2022, we have also partnered with Malibu Open to support the logistics of the event, which contributed to the breaking of the world record in slalom by our local waterski champion and the owner of Emerald Coast Compounding Pharmacy, Regina Jaquess. It was a truly remarkable event. Regina is the current Guinness World Record holder in women’s water-ski slalom.
Are there any charity projects your company is involved in?
While we are an early-stage startup with limited resources for local charity, we’ve volunteered at the Bloody Mary Festival in recent years, where proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity. We also make annual financial contributions to Toys for Tots. As we grow, we intend to become more involved in disaster recovery efforts. We’ve been building a network of local volunteers through trygrunt.com/volunteer program, where community members can now sign up and be ready to help when needed.
