Contractors Connect returns with new element to bi-monthly meetups

Updated: Aug 29, 2018

It’s back! Contractors Connect, the premier networking event for contractors along the Emerald Coast, announced the return of its bi-monthly meetup after a short summer break. And, now, in celebration of its one-year anniversary, it’s introducing a new aspect of its bi-monthly contractor meetups.

Beginning with Lord & Son at the September 6 event, each meetup will feature a large, local general contractor, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the featured contractor’s choice of nonprofit.

“The construction industry plays a large role in the growth of our area,” said Erin Bakker, co-owner of the Hive Creative Consulting, the marketing company behind Contractors Connect. “And, in addition to giving contractors a laid-back space to connect with each other, we thought this could serve as a great platform to show the role that contractors play in improving our community.”

Lord & Son, a local general contractor, has recently helped complete a new aquatic center for The Arc of the Emerald Coast, which works in Okaloosa, Walton and Santa Rosa Counties to empower those with developmental disabilities to live meaningful lives.

“Bringing contractors in our area together to help with causes that are near and dear to our hearts is tremendously important,” said Spike Lord of Lord & Son. “At the end of the day, contractors are a group of hardworking, dedicated people who are constantly working to better and grow our community.”

At the Sept. 6 meetup, which is sponsored by Foster & Company, LLC, contractors from along the Emerald Coast can join together from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at AJ’s on the Destin Harbor to chat with Lord & Son about its work in the community and support the Arc of the Emerald Coast while celebrating the year anniversary of Contractors Connect.

"We're so excited to be involved," said Dennis Foster of Foster and Company. "We can't wait to share what we do and meet other contractors in our area."

Tickets for the meetup, which are just 10 dollars, include one free draft beer, light appetizers, attendees’ business names included in a follow up thank you email and social media post after the event and the opportunity to win in multiple giveaway drawings during the event.

“We’ve had so many people reach out to us about having another meetup,” said Ali Weil, co-owner of the Hive. “So, we’re excited to be back.”

Pulling in more than 100 contractors, designers, realtors, bankers and insurance agents at previous events, The Hive expects attendance at the September meetup to stay on trend and bring in a large crowd, expanding on each attendee’s ability to construct meaningful relationships.

This event also boasts multiple sponsorship opportunities, giving local business a chance to promote and expose their services to contractors while giving back to a local charity.
