We had the opportunity to sit down with Mike Miller, President of Specialty Roofers Inc., to ask him some questions about his business and here is what we learned.
How long has SRI been in business?
13 years. We opened with a tiny team of 3 in Destin. Now we have over 50 employees and are based in Freeport.
What kind of services do you provide?
We do Residential and Commercial Roof Work and Service and Maintenance for any roof system. Our projects range from small residential leaks to huge commercial roof installations on hotels, schools and industrial buildings.
How has your business grown and changed over the years?
Over the years our team has grown a lot, but we are proud to have several staff members that have been with us since the very beginning. Our commercial department and portfolio of work has increased dramatically over the past five years. We also expanded our footprint 2 years ago by becoming licensed in Alabama as well, which has brought us some great project opportunities. In 2021, we built a new office and headquarters in Freeport which has been great. We are proud to be able to offer our employees a great work environment, benefits and opportunities for growth. What has not changed is our commitment to quality and our appreciation for our customers and community.
What are some notable projects your business has been a part of?
We have been fortunate to be the preferred roofer for many amazing projects in the Florida Panhandle such as The Okaloosa School System, Bob Hope Villages, Sanctuary Apartments, Infinity Apartments of Hammock Bay, Sun Plaza of Niceville and many more.
Are there any charity projects your company is involved in?
We do everything we can to give back to the community that we serve. Specialty Roofers puts on several charity events throughout the year including the Specialty Spot Fishing Tournament benefiting the Wright Fight, The SRI Sporting Clay Tournament benefiting Westonwood Ranch, and the Diaper Drive benefiting Caring and Sharing. Over the last couple of years these events have raised well over $200K combined for these worthy local organizations. We are working on adding a couple more events in 2025. We also sponsor many local sports teams and organizations. Specialty Roofers employees regularly attend Contractors Connect events, and have done so since it started in 2017. We are always looking for ways to get involved and give back.
